Church name
Abbey Centre Baptist Church (Retired)
About Me:
(Sounds like an invitation to an ego trip! But here goes .....)
Home church, Shoreditch Tabernacle, London with a watershed experience aged 11 at a Billy Graham Meeting. Training for ministry at Rawdon and Northern Baptist Colleges + Manchester, Leicester and Nottingham Universities.
12 years as minister of Higham Way Baptist Church Hinckley and for 8 of those years also head of R.E. at High School. Jan. 1982- Dec. 2007 minister of Abbey Road/Abbey Centre Baptist Church. I've been privileged to thoroughly enjoy ministry at two churches amongst people of down to earth faith underpinned (even if imperfectly) by Kingdom of Heaven values.
In retirement I am continuing as Secretary of Churches Together in Northampton and Northampton Faiths Forum. I have no desire to become an itinerant preacher, but would like some church involvement alongside of pursuing personal interests such as French and Piano.
I'm happily married to Dee, with 3 children and 3 grandchildren.
I'm also very happy to be considered a heretic by those who believe they know what is right - and don't know that we all "see through a glass darkly" and as ministers are called to "declare a mystery". It is perhaps knowing this that has kept attending meetings, pastoring, preaching and administering the sacraments exciting and challenging through nearly 40 years.
